A cuppa and a catchup builds community in Swan Hill

At the Tyntynder Football Netball Club - known locally as the Bulldogs - a weekly “Coffee Club” has quietly become an important gathering place for men in Swan Hill.

Originally established for past players, the Tuesday morning catch-up has grown well beyond its initial circle. What began as a way to reconnect former teammates has evolved into a welcoming space attracting between 30 and 40 men each week. They gather for a cuppa, conversation and companionship – checking in on one another.
In a time when social isolation can have a significant impact on mental and emotional health, particularly for men in regional communities, initiatives like this have never been more important.
Recognising the value of these informal but powerful gatherings, Swan Hill Freemasons, with support of Freemasons Foundation Victoria, have donated $2,000 to assist with the Club’s ongoing costs. The funding will help ensure the Coffee Club can continue to provide a welcoming and accessible space each week.
Freemasonry has long understood the importance of creating spaces where men can meet in friendship and mutual support. In backing the Coffee Club, Swan Hill Freemasons are investing not simply in a strong cuppa, but in a strong community.
