Lodge Belvoir’s 2025 Charity Presentation

The members of Lodge Belvoir Wodonga have again held their annual celebration of community at  the Annual Charity Presentation Night, distributing $16,049 to a range of deserving local recipients.

The funds were raised through ongoing sausage sizzles, bolstered by generous support from Bunnings Wodonga, Arnold’s Fruit Market, FFV and the wider community.

“Our members get a great sense of pride knowing they’re assisting local organisations. With the support of Freemasons Foundation Victoria, we’re able to make a meaningful contribution to those who need it most.”

- WBro Stephen M Norris PSGD, Secretary, Lodge Belvoir

A sizzling tradition of giving back

What began in 2011 as a few members setting up a weekly sausage sizzle to raise funds for local causes has now grown into a long-standing tradition that continues to make a real difference across the Albury-Wodonga region.

Initially hosted outside Woolworths on High Street, and later moving to Arnold’s Fruit Market when the supermarket closed in 2016, the weekly sausage sizzles have become a local fixture and a powerful fundraising engine.

Since 2012, Lodge Belvoir, with support from Freemasons Foundation Victoria, has donated almost $140,000 to local organisations and student bursaries. Their contributions have reached a wide range of causes, including:

  • Belvoir Special School

  • Wodonga S.E.S.

  • Relay for Life

  • North East Scout Association

  • Baranduda CFA and Table Top RFS

  • Upper Murray District Scouts and 1st Baranduda Scout Group

  • UnitingCare Wodonga and the Salvation Army Self Denial Fund

  • Typo Station and Ataxia Australia

  • Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod (Archie Kirkwood and Clive Johnson Awards)

  • Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre and Hilltop Accommodation Centre, providing essential support for rural and regional cancer patients and their families.

One major highlight came in 2017, when the Lodge, supported by a $10,000 grant from Freemasons Foundation Victoria, presented a total of $29,600 to the Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre Trust to fund a specialist cancer support program.

From sizzling sausages to strengthening communities, Lodge Belvoir’s efforts show how consistent, grassroots fundraising can have a lasting and far-reaching impact.
