Supporting Chronic Fatigue sufferers in Geelong

Emerge Australia, the only national patient organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Long COVID, has received essential support from the FFV and St Andrews in the South Lodge. This contribution is helping to sustain the Geelong-based support group, which provides a crucial space for individuals managing these debilitating conditions.

A lifeline for those in need

The Geelong ME/CFS Support Group, operating under Emerge Australia, offers peer support and advocacy for individuals across Geelong, Werribee, and Ballarat. The funding has directly contributed to covering meeting room rental, stationery, and postage costs, ensuring that those affected can stay connected despite the physical limitations imposed by their conditions. With many members unable to attend meetings due to fatigue, maintaining this community resource is more important than ever.

St Andrews in the South Lodge contributed $320, with FFV supplementing the grant with an additional $320, bringing the total funding to $640. While a modest sum, this support ensures that the group can continue offering its services, providing an essential sense of belonging and understanding for those living with ME/CFS.

This type of support can uplift individuals facing challenging health conditions. Through this compassionate grant, those living with ME/CFS and Long COVID have access to a stable and supportive environment.
