Updated: 5 days ago

This week, FFV Directors Rod Lavin JP and Christian Wood proudly represented the Foundation at the annual Mackenzie Dinner hosted by the Epworth Medical Foundation. The event was an opportunity to celebrate the impact of philanthropy across the Epworth network and to acknowledge the shared commitment to improving health outcomes for Victorian communities.

Honouring the history with the Freemason’s Hospital, our partnership with Epworth continues to grow, with significant support directed to education, research and patient care through a range of sub funds and grants. since 2017 this support has totalled $274,580. Our recent contributions (FY24/25 and FY 25/26) include;

  • $10,000 in support to Brookes Nursing & Midwifery Academy

  • $20,000 in nurse and clinician scholarships via Sub Funds

  • $49,500 via Sub Fund grants to EJ Whitten Prostate Cancer Research

  • $50,000 via a Community Grant to EJ Whitten Prostate Cancer Research - Supporting the CONFIRM clinical trial, helping clinicians better identify which prostate cancer patients are suitable for Active Surveillance so low-risk patients to be safely monitored, reducing unnecessary treatment and improving quality of life.

This long-standing partnership reflects our shared vision for advancing medical knowledge, strengthening clinical practice, and supporting the dedicated professionals who care for thousands of patients each year.

2025 Scholarship recipients

This year, the Ray Millar Sub Fund Scholarship is supporting four Epworth Freemasons staff members to advance their professional development across cancer nursing, perioperative practice and business studies. These scholarships are an investment in strengthening patient care - helping staff build advanced clinical skills, enhance service delivery and contribute to research that improves outcomes for patients and the wider Epworth community.
