Community, compassion and Christmas in July cheer

The spirit of giving was alive and well this July as Freemasons from across the Bellarine Otway District came together for a very special Christmas in July celebration.

On Saturday 12 July, the Bellarine Otway District 110 hosted its first combined Christmas in July event in eight years - and it was a night to remember. Held in support of Foundation 61, the event raised more than $17,000 to help empower individuals on their journey to recovery from addiction.

The celebration brought together members from across the district, along with their families and friends, in a joyful show of unity, entertainment and generosity. The evening’s fundraising success was bolstered by a $2,000 donation from LC Water, and a $10,000 contribution from Freemasons Foundation Victoria.

Guests were treated to live music from local bands The Windbreakers and Beyond the Shadows, organised by WBro Charles Smith, whose energy and coordination helped make the event a standout. Children were delighted by the magic of a close-up magician, while adults joined in raffles, games, and a spirited auction. Laughter filled the room and the spirit of the season shone through, despite the winter chill outside.

Most importantly, the event raised not just funds, but awareness and support for the life-changing work of Foundation 61, a local not-for-profit that offers healing and hope to individuals facing addiction.

Thank you to all the lodges of Bellarine Otway District who worked together to make this event such a success. It was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community comes together for a common cause - and a little Christmas cheer.
