Freemasons Foundation Victoria is committed to supporting the youth of Victoria. A major initiative is our annual Education Awards for Tertiary and Secondary students.
Each year the Foundation grants over $400,000 in Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries to students.
The Awards available this year are:
Secondary Awards - closes 6th February 2020
Tertiary Awards - closes 13th February 2020
When reviewing applications, the following criteria is taken into consideration:
school results/academic progress;
demonstrated financial need or difficulties;
school and community activities;
Applicants will be notified of the outcome before the end of March 2020 and if you are successful the payment will be made in May 2020.
Family association with Freemasonry is not a criterion for an Award.
Awards are awarded at the discretion of Freemasons Foundation Victoria and the value and number of awards may vary at its discretion.
Those students requiring financial support to complete their studies should apply for a Freemasons Benevolent Fund Education Bursary. There are currently 2 rounds available each year closing in March and August each year.
The purpose of an Education Bursary is to provide support to Post-Secondary students undertaking their first Tertiary Course who require financial assistance with their studies.
General guidelines of eligibility for a bursary are as follows:
An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia domiciled in Victoria;
Low socio-econimic status background; or
Demonstrated financial need. Student must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentation and evidence at the time of application. For example, Commonwealth income support payments such as Youth Allowance, Austudy or the necessity to relocate to undertake their chosen course of study.
Satisfactory academic merit.
The number of bursaries are limited and by applying for a bursary does not guarantee that a bursary will be granted.
